On April 12th, we’re excited to host the biggest and baddest Ideastorm yet! Tickets will go fast, so make sure to sign up here.

For those of you new to IdeaStorm, it’s a fast-paced, lightly moderated, high energy brainstorming session. Creative Ideas + Entrepreneurial Minds = Great Teams + Hot Startups. Bring your startup idea for others to help build on, or just bring your creativity and feedback for peers.

Event format:

1. Challenge Question – Ex: “How can we use WiFi to improve everyday items?”

2. Fresh Ideas – Pitch your ideas to the group and brainstorm

3. Founder’s Dilemma – Help a real founder tackle a real business problem

Each of these sessions will be 15-20 minutes in groups of 10-15 people.

Bring ideas, bring feedback, and bring friends! Don’t worry if you have to leave early.

We are excited to announce that IdeaStorm 12 will be part of the MIT Venture Capital Conference. All registered conference attendees are invited to attend Friday Nov 19 4pm-5pm (check the official conference agenda for details).

For those new to IdeaStorm, it is a fast-paced, lightly moderated, high energy brainstorming session.

Breakout sessions will feature:
1. Challenge Question - Ex: “How can we use WiFi to improve everyday items?”
2. Fresh Ideas – New ideas that hit you on the way to work today.
3. Founder’s Dilemma- A local entrepreneur will presents a problem for discussion.

There is a great line-up of panels and speakers at this year’s MIT VC Conference, with a focus on dialogue between investors and entrepreneurs. We are excited that IdeaStorm 12 will be the final event— come enjoy the fun atmosphere, dynamic conversation, and opportunity to form relationships with other conference attendees through the exchange of ideas.

IdeaStorm 11 was a blast. Thanks to everyone who came out to the Cambridge Innovation Center on October 12. It was an energetic and diverse gathering, and we filled the Venture Cafe to max capacity! The challenge topic for the breakout sessions was brainstorming solutions to everyday annoyances. Since we partnered with the MIT 100K Competition for this event, we all gathered for a mini elevator pitch contest and heard ideas ranging from haptics orthopedic surgery training to nightclubs geared toward babyboomers.

Welcome to IdeaStorm 11, in collaboration with the MIT Sloan Entrepreneurship Club and the MIT $100K Competition: Get ready to the biggest and best brainstorming session ever. We’re looking forward to a great new event on Tuesday, October 12th! This IdeaStorm is an MIT $100K mixer event, so the focus will be on taking the best ideas to the next level and submitting them to the MIT $100K Elevator Pitch Contest. Nearly one-third of the country’s uninsured are between 18 and 29. Health insurance doesn’t offer them the same value that it does to others and so they go without. But, a recent article by two law professors (titled “Tontines for the Young Invincibles”) is proposing the use of an old and outlawed practice as a solution—the tontine. Participants pay into a pool of money and, if they don’t use the pool’s resources, some portion of their contribution is returned. A well structured policy could offer consumers low cost health insurance and incentives to live healthy. Moreover, rollover/renewal options could turn a short-term tontine into a lifetime health insurance customer. Created by Carlos Dedesma.
